CASE STUDY
Industrial Research Institute

Even with no history of fundraising, IRI repeatedly exceeded its goals.

The Industrial Research Institute (since renamed the Innovation Research Interchange) serves as the trade association which fosters research and innovation for more than 200 national and international manufacturing and technology companies, the majority of them Fortune 500 companies.  IRI had not engaged in fundraising prior to retaining The Sheridan Group in early 2012.

TSG conducted a capital campaign feasibility study on behalf of a $1 million scope of educational and public awareness initiatives to be launched during IRI’s 75th Anniversary year in 2013.

After working with IRI Staff to refine the Case for Support and related Corporate Donor Recognition Plan, The Sheridan Group helped IRI launch a Leadership Gifts Phase in the summer of 2012. Through tailored approaches to IRI founding and other leading members, the Diamond Anniversary Campaign had nearly reached its $1 million goal before the public launch in the Fall, 2012.  Accordingly, the campaign’s leadership increased the Campaign Goal to $1.2 million, which it then exceeded just six months later,  enabling IRI to fully implement the planned Diamond Anniversary Program of events and initiatives throughout 2013.
